  • American Mahjong is a social tile game that blends strategy, luck, and a little friendly competition. Often compared to Rummikub or Yahtzee, players work to build specific tile combinations while adapting their strategy throughout the game.

    Although Mahjong originated in China more than 100 years ago, American Mahjong has been enjoyed across the United States since the 1920s and has long been especially popular throughout the South.

    It's a fun, challenging game that is easy to love!

  • Not at all! Lessons are designed specifically for beginners, and no prior Mahjong experience is needed.

  • Just yourself! I provide the Mahjong sets, mats, racks, and learning materials.

  • Every group learns at a different pace so I cannot guarantee that we will get through all of the points and have time to play a full game afterwards, but I can promise that I will try my best to do so.

  • I come to your hosting location! For most people that is their home or back patio!

  • I teach group lessons from 2-12 people. These numbers allow players to ask all the questions and play through a full game, or two!

  • Please! My goal is that everyone understands the game of Mahjong, so I gladly welcome all questions at any point in the lesson.

  • Yes! After having a beginner session, I would love to come back to refresh you on the basics, as well as teach more strategy.
